#EPForgetUsNot ECI DAY of ACTION Series of actions & events on Monday 18 June
The legislative revision of the European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) has entered a crucial phase and it is time for action! On 20 June, the Constitutional Affairs Committee will vote* on their amendments to the draft version of the updated regulation. On Monday, 18 June – 2 days before this crucial vote – several civil society organisations are jointly organising a series of actions and events. This is OUR ECI DAY of ACTION, so please join us! Find an overview of these actions and events below and the Facebook event here.
13:00 – 14:00 – #EPForgetUsNot publlic action & hand-over of open letter
17:00 – 18:30 – Frienship Group on Citizens’ Rights meeting on the ECI revision
#EPForgetUsNot publlic action & hand-over of open letter (13:00-14:00, Esplanade Solidarnosc)
During Monday lunch time, we will gather in front of the European Parliament for a semi-official hand-over of our joint open letter to relevant MEPs. The joint open letter has been co-signed by 16 ECIs and 54 other civil society organisations, and it calls upon the European Parliament to oblige itself to have a debate and a vote in plenary on every single successful ECI. The letter will be accompanied by forget-me-not flowers, reminding MEPs about the important responsibility that comes with their vote, and the duty they have towards the 9 million citizens that have signed an ECI and wanted to have their voice heard.
